Momentive Documentation Issue: What Employees Need to Know

Update on the Momentive Certificate of Analysis (COA) Date Discrepancy

GracoRoberts continues to work closely with supplier Momentive following the issuance of a Notice of Escape (NOE) related to documentation discrepancies affecting select Momentive products.

As our teams continue supporting customers through this process, here is a summary of what happened, where we are now, and what employees should know.

What Was the Issue?

Momentive identified an error in the Certificates of Analysis (COAs) accompanying certain products. Specifically, some COAs contained incorrect production dates and use-by dates (DOE).

Importantly, this issue relates to documentation accuracy, not product quality.

Momentive has confirmed that the discrepancy is limited to information published on the COAs. In many cases, the product itself remains fully conforming and suitable for use, provided the corrected use-by date has not been reached or exceeded.

Why Does This Matter?

Many of the industries we serve require complete and accurate quality documentation to support traceability, compliance, and customer approval processes.

Even when product quality is unaffected, inaccurate documentation can create challenges for customers whose quality systems require precise records before material can be accepted or released for use.

What Action Did We Take?

Upon learning of the issue, GracoRoberts:

  • Notified impacted customers.
  • Collaborated directly with Momentive to secure corrected COAs.
  • Reviewed documentation and traceability requirements.
  • Established a process to provide customers with corrected Momentive COAs and corresponding GracoRoberts Certificates of Conformance (COCs).

Our goal has been to ensure customers have the accurate documentation needed to maintain compliance, traceability, and confidence in their supply chain.

Where Are We Now?

We have now begun receiving corrected COAs from Momentive.

As documentation is received, GracoRoberts is reviewing and processing it before distribution to affected customers. Due to the volume of products and shipments involved, corrected documentation is being issued on a rolling basis.

Customers with urgent documentation needs should contact their Account Specialist so requests can be prioritized where possible.

What We Learned

This event reinforced the importance of accurate documentation, strong supplier partnerships, and proactive communication. While the issue did not impact product quality, it highlighted the critical role documentation plays in supporting customer compliance and traceability requirements.

It also demonstrated the value of our internal quality and document control processes, which have helped ensure customers receive accurate, validated information throughout the resolution process.

Thank you to our Sales, Quality, Operations, Customer Service, and Supplier Management teams for their continued partnership and commitment to customer success.
