Wichita - SkyGeek Stock Move
In March, SkyGeek initiated the transition of its larger products to the GracoRoberts' Wichita facility. This project originally began during the initial relocation to the new Wichita facility a couple of years ago but was paused due to limitations with SkyGeek’s backend systems. With the completion of the SAP migration at the turn of the year and SkyGeek ERP now capable of managing multiple fulfilment centers, the goal was set to relocate the inventory by the end of March.
In early March, planning was conducted to confirm products, IT system requirements, understand Wichita’s warehouse operations, and coordinate inventory shipping. The inventory was consolidated and shipped to the Wichita facility in two waves at the end of the month. Special thanks to Jeff, Jess, Dave, Chris, Matt, Susan, Judith, and Eric for their efforts and assistance in accomplishing the planning and inventory transfer.
Starting in April, the Wichita facility received two shipments of products (5 gallon and 55-gallon drum sized items) and began organizing the inventory. Inventory locations were created, items were moved to their new locations, and training on SkyGeek’s SAP instance began. Subsequent inbound shipments were received and stored. Backlogged orders were picked, packed, and shipped resulting in 95 orders being processed and prepped for shipment in the first three weeks. This included both current orders and backorders during the transition preparing the Wichita facility for steady-state operations. Special thanks to Mike Asoian, Jeff, Rachael, Aaron, and Mike Macias for all their assistance and efforts with setting up and getting operations running in the new SkyGeek SAP Wichita warehouse.
This is an exciting step for SkyGeek increasing its stocking footprint and enables operations from multiple warehouses. This transition provides more space in the SkyGeek warehouse addressing the challenge of limited room for increased stock. Additionally, it reduces inbound freight cost and speeds up delivery times to our customers, thanks to Wichita’s central location. Many thanks again to the Wichita team for their support of SkyGeek and its customers moving forward.
